OHIO — You might want to make sure you have enough paper for a few months.
Ohio’s unemployment rate rose to 4.8% in September from 4.6% a year ago.
That’s the highest in the nation and the highest since March 2014.
The newsroom jobs that are filling have changed in recent years, but the same story is playing out in Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati.
The Columbus Dispatch said a new dispatch editor, assistant editor, news director, marketing director, digital news director and copywriter have all been hired.
It said the department now has eight full-time positions.
The Dayton Daily News said its department is hiring a new chief news editor, a new digital reporter, a senior news editor and an associate news director.
It added that a new associate news editor is on the way.
A spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Labor said it is trying to find a way to fill the vacancies.
The spokeswoman said Ohio’s job market has changed and there are many new positions.
